Intro
In August 2011, Melinda returned from studying at the National Centre for Voice and Speech in Salt Lake City, Utah with leading voice scientist, Dr Ingo Titze.
In 2011 she was selected to commence this specialised course in voice anatomy, physiology and habilitation (prevention of vocal problems). She completed the Certificate in 'Vocology'' and is the first Australian to receive this qualification!
Melinda is a professional contemporary vocalist who has gigged since she was 16. Initially trained in classical piano, flute and voice, she went on to focussing on contemporary genres. Her performance experience includes singing and playing in various bands from Jazz to Pop, and singing backing vocals for various artists. She has also enjoyed TV gigs and has recorded numerous TV and radio jingles.
Melinda's first love is Jazz and Soul, but she has sung everything from Pop to Musical Theatre and everything in between.
Melinda's commitment to continual professional development has led to several degrees in voice, music and education, including a Bachelor of Music from the Qld Conservatorium and Masters degree from The University of Melbourne. For a full biog, please click
Melinda has a particular interest in the developing adolescent to young adult female voice. She continues to study and conduct research in this area.
Melinda has enjoyed teaching voice for many years. She proudly calls herself a 'voice geek' and loves to share her passion, experience and knowledge with aspiring young singers.
